At the back door was a wider veranda, around a part of which we had had erected some blue plastic tarpulins to give added shelter. There was a thriving community of potplants living in this improbable light.

Here's a view down the side of the house in late autumn. The autumn leaf display is being put on by our apple tree (foreground) and our blood plum. We will miss the orchard!
