Comet McNaught

Tonight was apparently the best night to see Comet McNaught, albeit only for around half an hour after sunset. Tonight is its brightest, although tomorrow it is visible for longer.

Tonight it was much brighter than Halley's Comet ever was back in nineteen-eighty-whatever.

The above photos were taken from the balcony in the space of about 10 minutes.

While I was watching the comet, a 'waterfight' (drought style) was happening beneath me on the street.

Nice work to capture these. It has been cloudy here in Brisbane the last few days and was black this morning so it has not been visible yet. Supposed to clear by the weekend if its still around then...

thanks for the comment rob (you have some lovely photos on your site). The comet wasn't visible last night (Tuesday) in Adelaide due cloud formations, and we'll have a lot more of that in the coming week. Can't be too upset though, with the clouds are supposed to be showers and rain. You won't see it in the morning, comet rises before the sun and isn't bright enough to see in the daylight. I think it's visible in the sky for a week after first appearance on sunday (day before my photos). Will be keen to hear if you get to see it...
